Sold for: £7
A mid-century Scheurich-Keramik West German ceramic vase. The vessel is constructed from earthenware with a tall ovoid body that tapers towards the base, featuring a short neck and a thick flared rim. It is decorated with a glossy, mottled two-tone glaze graduating from a deep amber-brown at the lower section to a speckled cream and tan tone at the shoulder and rim. The interior is finished with a dark brown glaze. The base of the piece features embossed marks in the clay, with the upper curve reading ‘Scheurich – KERAMIK’, the centre displaying the numbers ‘281-38’, and the lower curve reading ‘W.GERMANY’.
Condition report:
The vase is in good vintage condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs to the rim or body (photos 2, 3, 4). The unglazed foot ring shows minor surface scuffing and accumulated dust consistent with age and use (photo 1). The glaze exhibits minor firing inclusions typical of the manufacturing process.
