A collection of vintage leather and possibly snakeskin handbags and clutches in two suitcases. This lot comprises approximately twenty-five ladies’ handbags dating from the mid to late 20th century. The assortment features a variety of classic silhouettes, including rigid frame bags, envelope-style clutches, shoulder bags with braided or flat straps, and a satchel-style bag. Materials primarily consist of leather in smooth, pebbled, and lizard-style embossed textures, alongside one clutch bag possibly made of snakeskin with a hinged metal frame. The colour palette is dominated by black, mahogany brown, and deep burgundy, with accent pieces in navy blue, tan, and beige. Hardware includes gold-tone and brass-tone metal clasps, featuring kiss-lock ball beads and bar designs. No manufacturer labels or marks are legible on the items. The bags are presented within two suitcases that show significant exterior wear and are considered part of the lot.

Condition report:

The collection is in varied vintage condition. General wear consistent with age and use is visible throughout, including surface scuffing to leather, creasing, and wear to the corners (photo 1). Several bags show signs of compression from being stored together in the suitcases (photo 3). The possibly snakeskin clutch exhibits significant green verdigris oxidation on the metal frame and mounting hardware (photo 4). The blue leather bag shows creasing to the lower half (photo 5). The suitcases themselves show significant exterior wear (photo 1).
