A collection of 1980 Winter Olympics mint sheet stamps in a presentation binder titled The Sumner Collection. This lot comprises multiple full sheets and blocks of commemorative postage stamps issued by various nations to mark the XIII Winter Olympic Games in Lake Placid. The collection includes a full sheet of twenty five stamps from Liberia featuring a 17c bobsleigh design, a full sheet of fifty stamps from the People’s Republic of China with an 8f denomination, and a full sheet of twenty five stamps from Andorra with a 1,80 value. Also included is a sheet of twenty five stamps from Mongolia with a 20m denomination and a block of twenty stamps from Anguilla with a 35c value. The stamps are presented in mint never hinged condition with original gum, housed within protective plastic sleeves. The binder is finished in maroon with gold toned lettering and an Olympic rings logo on the front cover.
Condition report:
The stamps appear to be in mint never hinged condition with no visible faults to the perforations or gum (photos 3-7). The binder cover shows significant surface wear and areas of blue staining or ink transfer to the front and rear boards (photo 1). The internal plastic sleeves exhibit light rippling and handling wear (photo 2).
