This lot comprises a collection of vintage woodworking and hand tools including Record and Sandvik examples housed within a handmade two-tone wooden chest. The assortment features a cast metal jack plane marked RECORD on the lever cap and NO 05 1/2 behind the front knob. Among the saws is one example with a blue plastic handle and a blade printed with the name SANDVIK. The group further contains a large wooden mallet, a spirit level, wooden-bodied planes, and a marking gauge. Other items include a white folding ruler marked in inches, a carpenter’s pencil reading GREENWOOD, and various screwdrivers, chisels, and files. The chest is constructed from wood with red paint on the lid and dark blue paint on the sides, fitted with metal corner brackets, two latches, and a central carry handle. It contains a tiered internal storage tray.
Condition report:
The collection is in as-found condition showing heavy signs of industrial use and age. The wooden chest displays significant paint loss, surface scratches, and ingrained grime throughout (photo 1). Many metal components, notably the Record plane and assorted files, exhibit heavy surface rust and oxidation (photos 3, 4, and 6). The metal block plane is missing its lever cap (photo 5). Wooden tool handles and the interior of the chest show staining, wear, and impact marks consistent with regular workshop use.
