A pair of two Westminster Collection 100 Years of Flight commemorative philatelic binders. This lot comprises two blue padded PVC binders celebrating the centenary of aviation between 1903 and 2003. The collection consists of various First Day Covers and historical information sheets detailing significant aircraft and aviators. The covers were produced by Mercury, PO Box 5, Watford, and are presented in clear protective sleeves above printed text. The aircraft featured include the Wright Flyer, North American P-51D Mustang, and De Havilland Mosquito, with stamps issued by Alderney, Barbados, and Liberia. The collection also includes a Great Aviators series featuring Captain Jock Lowe and Captain John Cats Eyes Cunningham with stamps from The Gambia. The binders are finished with silver-tone embossed lettering reading 100 YEARS OF FLIGHT alongside a logo incorporating three aircraft silhouettes. Each internal page carries a printed header 100 YEARS OF FLIGHT 1903 – 2003 and a Westminster logo at the footer comprising a stylised window-pane symbol.
Condition report:
The binders and internal contents are in good overall condition. The silver-tone embossed logos on the front covers remain bright with no significant loss (photo 1). There is minor edge wear to the blue PVC binder covers consistent with handling (photo 1). The internal plastic sleeves exhibit light surface marks and minor rippling, but the commemorative covers and information sheets appear clean and undisturbed (photos 2-6). The stamps and postmarks are clear with no visible foxing or damp damage.
