A Regency style mahogany two-tier stand with a single frieze drawer. The stand is constructed from a stained hardwood, possibly mahogany, and features an upper shelf enclosed by a three-sided spindled gallery rail. A central open compartment is positioned above a single frieze drawer, which is fitted with a circular darkened metal pull handle. The structure is supported by four turned legs with block joints that secure a lower rectangular shelf, terminating in turned feet. The reverse of the upper section is finished with an inset decorative panel displaying a textured crackle-glaze or parchment-effect design. No manufacturer or retailer marks are visible on the surfaces shown.
Condition report:
The stand exhibits general signs of age and use throughout. There is scuffing and finish wear visible along the edges of the shelves and the gallery rail (photo 1). The top shelf shows minor surface scratches and abrasions (photo 1). The decorative panel on the reverse displays areas of discolouration and staining (photo 2).
