A classical style cast stone fluted garden column pedestal. The pedestal features a cylindrical column with vertical fluting, set between a circular top and a stepped square plinth base. The top surface incorporates a central circular aperture intended for a fixing pin to support a sundial, birdbath, or garden ornament. The piece is constructed from cast stone and exhibits an aged appearance with extensive natural weathering. No manufacturer’s marks, signatures, or factory stamps are visible on the base or body of the item.
Condition report:
The pedestal shows significant weathering consistent with outdoor use, with extensive lichen and moss growth across the fluted column and base (photo 1). There is characteristic surface pitting and minor erosion to the cast stone. Small chips and wear are visible to the edges of the square plinth and the top rim (photo 3). The central hole on the top surface shows irregular wear and erosion around its circumference (photo 2).
