A collection of writing instruments including examples by Craven “A” and Senior Service. The lot comprises a black chased lever-fill fountain pen constructed from a possibly celluloid or hard rubber material with gold-tone trim. The cap band is incised with the characters C R A V E N and A. The pen is fitted with a gold-tone nib and a side filling lever mechanism. Also included is a Parker style retractable ballpoint pen featuring a blue lower barrel and brushed metal cap with an arrow clip, contained within a clear plastic case.

The group further includes a wooden advertising pencil for Senior Service printed with the text SENIOR SERVICE, Satisfy, and Tobacco at Its Best in blue lettering. A capped fountain pen with a white barrel featuring a pink and green floral motif and gold-tone bands is also present. Completing the assortment are three additional ballpoint pens: a red plastic pen printed with aplan.co.uk and T: 01202 297031, a black pen with gold-tone trim marked DIMEX, and an unmarked black and chrome-style retractable ballpoint.


Condition report:

The Craven \"A\" fountain pen shows visible brassing and oxidation to the gold-tone cap band, clip, and lever (photos 1, 2, and 4), with general surface wear to the chased barrel (photo 4). The Parker style ballpoint appears in good used condition inside its protective case (photo 5). The wooden Senior Service pencil exhibits significant paint loss and wear across the length of the barrel (photo 1). The black and chrome-style ballpoint pen shows heavy surface scuffing and wear to the plastic section (photo 1). The floral fountain pen shows light surface scuffing (photo 1). All internal mechanisms and ink reservoirs are untested.
