A set of eight House of Windsor centenary commemorative gold finished coins, possibly gold plated, presented in a red ‘House of Windsor Family Tree’ presentation folder. The set comprises eight coins denominated as ‘ONE CROWN’, each housed within a clear plastic protective capsule. The obverse designs feature portraits of British royalty including ‘GEORGE V KING OF THE UNITED KINGDOM’, ‘EDWARD VIII KING OF THE UNITED KINGDOM’, ‘GEORGE VI KING OF THE UNITED KINGDOM’, ‘ELIZABETH II QUEEN OF THE UNITED KINGDOM’, ‘CHARLES PRINCE OF WALES’, and ‘PRINCE WILLIAM DUKE OF CAMBRIDGE’, alongside a coin commemorating the 2013 birth of Prince George and a medallion depicting ‘THE BADGE OF THE HOUSE OF WINDSOR’. The folder contains an illustrated royal family tree and details regarding the ‘ORDER OF SUCCESSION’. This lot is accompanied by two printed certificates, one reading ‘Issued under certificate number: 002380’ for the ‘HOUSE OF WINDSOR’ and another numbered ‘001235’ for ‘THE HOUSE OF WINDSOR’, both bearing the signature of ‘Dr. Michael Göde’. The presentation folder contains nine coin recesses in total, one of which is currently vacant.
Condition report:
The eight coins are held in protective plastic capsules and show no visible signs of wear or damage (photo 2). The red presentation folder exhibits minor shelf wear, light scuffing to the corners, and a slight crease to the spine (photo 9). One coin is absent from the lower internal panel, leaving a vacant recess (photo 5). The two paper certificates show light foxing and handling marks to the edges (photos 7 and 8).
