A pair of two vintage men’s single-breasted wool tweed sport coats including one mid-20th-century jacket and one later herringbone design. The first garment is constructed from hand-woven Harris Tweed wool in a small-scale check pattern of brown, cream, and olive green, finished with a bronze-coloured satin-finish lining. It features notched lapels, a two-button front closure with three buttons per cuff, a single breast pocket, two flap pockets, and a central rear vent. A white woven label at the neck displays the Harris Tweed orb logo and text reading ‘HAND WOVEN Harris Tweed’ with registered trade mark number ‘319214’ and a side-mounted serial number tag reading ‘02640’. An interior pocket label reads ‘MENS WEAR SPECIALISTS Hope Brothers LTD REGENT STREET, London. W.1.’ The second jacket features a charcoal and grey herringbone weave with a rust-brown windowpane overcheck, two cuff buttons, and a light blue viscose lining. An interior pocket bears a black label with gold embroidery reading ‘Keynote Menswear MADE IN CZECHOSLOVAKIA’. A secondary black label with green text states ‘100% Pure New Wool’ and ‘100% Viscose lining’. This lot comprises the two jackets only; the background stairs, display items, and medals shown in the images are not included.
Condition report:
The jackets are in good vintage condition. There is moderate creasing to the interior linings of both garments consistent with storage (Photo 2, Photo 9). The exterior tweed surfaces show no visible moth damage, staining, or fraying to the cuffs or lapels (Photo 1, Photo 4, Photo 8). All buttons appear present and original to the garments.
