An Edwardian style mahogany bedstead featuring boxwood and ebony style decorative stringing. This lot comprises a headboard, a footboard, and two side rails, currently in a disassembled state. The mahogany components are decorated with neoclassical-inspired cross-banded borders and barber pole stringing in contrasting light and dark woods. Both the headboard and footboard feature a central rectangular mahogany panel flanked by vertical sections with horizontal slats, each decorated with repeating geometric inlay. The side rails are equipped with metal assembly brackets and brass-mounted casters. One caster is clearly visible featuring a ceramic wheel. No maker’s marks, signatures, or retailer’s labels are visible on the surfaces of the components.

Condition report:

The mahogany surfaces show overall wear consistent with age, including scattered surface scratches and minor scuffs visible across the main panels and rails (photos 1 and 2). Small dings are present along the edges and corners of the vertical sections. Pieces of blue adhesive tape are attached to several components, including the rails and one leg (photo 2). The finish appears dull in areas and would benefit from cleaning and polishing. The condition of the metal hardware shows surface tarnishing. One brass and ceramic caster is present; the presence and condition of the others are not shown.
