A pair of small hoop earrings constructed from 9ct yellow gold. Each earring features a wide, domed profile with a matte, textured surface. The exterior is decorated with a repeating pattern of small, incised six-pointed starburst or floral motifs. The earrings are designed for pierced ears and utilize a post and butterfly (scroll) backing mechanism. Small stamped marks are visible on the butterfly scrolls and the interior of the hoops, although they are not clearly legible as specific characters. One earring appears to have an impressed mark on the inner rim, but the resolution does not permit a transcription of the assay office or date letter.
The items are shown on a digital scale with a total weight of 1.45g.
Condition report:
A matched pair of earrings in good overall condition. There is minor surface wear and light oxidation to the gold, particularly around the post junctions, consistent with previous use (photos 1 and 2). The decorative starburst engravings remain crisp. The posts are straight and the butterfly backings appear original and functional. No visible distortion to the circular form of the hoops (photo 3).
