Sold for: £110
An antique 18 carat yellow gold ring featuring a single small round cut clear diamond, star set into the head. The ring is constructed with openwork scroll and foliate engraving to the shoulders, tapering to a D-section band. The internal shank bears a full set of British hallmarks including the maker’s mark ‘H M’, a crown, the fineness mark ’18’ for 18 carat gold, and the wheat sheaf town mark for the Chester Assay Office. The final date letter is partially obscured but the style is consistent with the late Victorian or early Edwardian period. The ring has a total weight of 2.10 grams.
Condition report:
The ring is in good antique condition with surface wear and fine micro-scratches consistent with age. There is evidence of a professional resize at the base of the shank, resulting in a slight thinning of the metal in this area. The gemstone and setting appear secure. The final hallmark is illegible.
