A yellow metal dress ring constructed from nine carat gold and set with a large oval faceted gemstone. The central stone, possibly an amethyst or rose quartz given its pale lilac hue, is held in a rub-over collet setting which flows into a tapered shank. The interior of the shank is struck with several marks, including the maker’s mark ‘KDL’ and a ‘9CT’ purity mark. Additionally, it bears a full set of British hallmarks including the crown and ‘375’ marks for nine carat gold, a leopard’s head for the London Assay Office, and the maker’s mark ‘BJSO’. The ring weighs 2.18 grams in total, including the gemstone.
Condition report:
The ring displays moderate wear consistent with age, including fine surface scratches and abrasions to the gold. The gemstone shows evidence of wear to the facet edges and contains some natural interior inclusions or feathers. There is a build-up of grime around the setting. No significant chips or cracks to the stone are visible. The internal hallmarks are partially worn but legible.
