A pair of framed pictures comprising a reproduction landscape print and a portrait of a child. The first item is a topographical bird’s-eye view of Mount Edgcumbe in Devonshire, after an 18th-century engraving. The lower margin contains printed text reading T. Badeslade Delin. and the SEAT of RICHARD EDGCUMBE Esqr. followed by W. H. Toms Sculp. A further line of small print states Reproduction of an engraving by Thomas Badeslade dated 1737 Published by Mount Edgcumbe House and Country Park, 1994 Printed by Hitchings and Mason Ltd, Plymouth. The print is housed in a black plastic frame with an IKEA label on the circular-cut backboard. The second item is a portrait of a young child with blonde hair and blue eyes, executed in a soft, impressionistic style using pastels or chalk on paper. The child wears a pale garment decorated with blue ribbons and a blue necklace. This work is housed in a decorative gilt and dark-toned wooden frame with a foliate-motif border. The back of the portrait frame is sealed with brown paper and tape and fitted with a wire hanging mount.

Condition report:

The Mount Edgcumbe print shows a prominent vertical crease through the centre (photo 1) and evidence of light toning and waviness across the sheet (photo 2). The modern plastic frame has minor surface scratching and the print is slightly loose within the mount. The child portrait is in good stable condition, though the decorative frame shows minor losses to the gesso and wear to the gilding, particularly at the corners (photo 8). The paper backing of the portrait frame exhibits foxing and one small puncture hole (photo 10).
