A group of silver tableware comprising a commemorative trophy cup on a wooden plinth, a pair of decorative tongs, and two napkin rings. The trophy cup features a chalice-form bowl engraved with the text TRURO CITY COUNCIL ALLOTMENT COMPETITION CUP. The rim is marked with an impressed series of stamps reading J.W.S&S followed by a crown, a lion passant, a lowercase shield-shaped q, and a profile head. The tongs are designed in the form of bird claws with detailed textured plumage to the arms. The interior of one arm bears four impressed marks: a crown, a lion passant, a capital P in a shield, and a final stamp reading JD over &S. The two napkin rings feature chased foliate borders to the rims and are engraved with the names Derek and Barbara respectively. Each ring bears an impressed mark consisting of the letters HA, a lion passant, a crown, and a capital S.
Condition report:
All items show natural surface tarnishing consistent with age and exposure (photo 1). The trophy cup displays visible surface scratches and minor pitting across the bowl (photo 2). The bird-claw tongs show darkening and tarnish to the interior surface (photo 4). The napkin rings exhibit minor surface wear and small indentations to the edges (photo 5). No structural failures or repairs are visible in the provided images.
