A collection of assorted metalware items in various styles and materials. The group includes a small pewter creamer featuring bands of engraved geometric patterns and a central circular heraldic crest depicting a wreath. A larger pewter pitcher is included, featuring a D-shaped handle, a pinched pouring spout, and an engraved script monogram C to the body. The underside of the pitcher bears circular marks that are worn and illegible. The collection also features a cylindrical silver plated biscuit barrel with vertical gadrooned decoration and a domed lid with a ball finial, alongside a smaller engine-turned silver plated canister with a flat lid. The items exhibit a variety of surface finishes, including polished and textured bands. Completing the assortment is a metal letter opener featuring a Maltese cross finial above a medallion, and a cast metal figural bottle opener with a loop handle.
Condition report:
The collection shows varying degrees of surface tarnish and oxidation consistent with age. The gadrooned biscuit barrel shows significant plating loss and wear to the underside (photo 2). The engine-turned canister displays a warm, copper-toned tarnish where the silver plating has worn through. The pewter items exhibit a dark patina with some surface pitting and darkening to the creamer. The medallion on the letter opener and the details of the figural bottle opener show some softening of detail due to age and handling.
