A collection of Scandinavian style wood and woven decorative items. The lot features a variety of hand-crafted pieces, including a large stave-constructed dark wood basin with a polished metal rim and twin lion-mask drop-ring handles. Woven items include a two-tone tea cosy or basket with a fitted lid, a set of coasters in an arched wicker stand featuring a landscape and bird insert, and a miniature decorative model of a bicycle with a front basket. The group also includes two spherical turned wood jars with lids and stems, one showing a highly figured grain and the other a dark, straight grain. Notable carved pieces include a circular commemorative plate with a relief scene of a church and trees, carrying the literal hand-carved inscription VOSS at the top edge. The collection is completed by a stylised wooden carving of a horse’s head, three small rustic turned wood vessels, a lidded pot, and a circular wall plaque with a floral bouquet insert.
Condition report:
The collection is in good vintage condition with surface wear consistent with age and display. The large wooden basin shows light surface oxidation and minor pitting to the metal rim. Minor surface scratches and shelf wear are visible to the bases of the turned wood jars and bowls. The woven wicker and rattan items show no significant breaks or losses to the weave. The hand-carved plate and horse sculpture appear structurally sound with no visible splits.
