A collection of vintage British board and card games and office ephemera. The lot includes a Monopoly board game by John Waddington Ltd, presented in a square cardboard box with a red and white diamond logo and the character known as Mr. Monopoly. The lid is printed with Manufactured in Great Britain by John Waddington Ltd. London & Leeds. and includes the patent application number 3796/36. Also included is a Lexicon card game in an orange and yellow box, marked Waddingtons Lexicon Regd. No. 529991 The Wonder Game. The group features a Chad Valley Beetle Game in a yellow and orange box printed with Chad Valley Made in England, and a Bézique & Polish Bézique set in a pink decorative box with a label for Boots Stationery Dept. A Spear’s Games Travel Scrabble set is included, featuring a green textured folding board with a spine label reading Letter tiles easily fixed in. The lot is completed by a Dymo Mini Labelmaker in its original red plastic and cardboard packaging, a white Sparwick storage box featuring a unicorn crest, and a group of vintage floral linens with a paper band reading 12 & 14 Torwood.


Condition report:

The Monopoly box lid shows significant structural damage, including split corners and multiple repairs using adhesive tape (photo 1). The Lexicon box is heavily worn with significant tearing and paper loss along the bottom edge (photo 1). The Travel Scrabble board shows visible scuffing and edge wear to the green exterior (photo 2). The Dymo labelmaker packaging is partially detached and shows creasing to the cardboard backing (photo 1). The Beetle game and Bézique boxes show general edge wear and surface marks consistent with age (photo 1, 2). The completeness of game pieces, cards, and tiles has not been verified.
