A collection of earthenware and stoneware ceramics comprising utility and decorative items. The group includes a trio of matching lidded pots in a dark honey-brown glaze, each featuring twin side handles and fitted lids with ball finials. Accompanying these is a tall brown glazed coffee pot or carafe with a loop handle and matching lid. The lot also features several studio pottery pieces, including a heavy-set cylindrical stoneware vase finished in an oatmeal-toned salt glaze with a wide metallic-black horizontal band, and a shallow decorative bowl with a bark-textured rim and a central well of turquoise-blue crackled fused glass. Further items include a large white glazed porcelain style bowl, a modern white earthenware mug with a D-shaped handle, a tall green and yellow banded cylindrical vase, a smaller waisted vase with hand-painted floral motifs on a white ground, a low earthenware chamberstick with a vibrant orange and yellow reactive lava style glaze, and a small two-tone stoneware ramekin. No maker’s marks, signatures, or backstamps are visible on the surfaces of these items. This lot comprises the ceramic items shown on the shelf only.
Condition report:
The items are in good used condition. The trio of lidded pots shows minor glaze irregularities consistent with the firing process (photo 1). The white mug exhibits light interior staining at the base (photo 1). The fused glass bowl and bark-textured stoneware rim appear intact with no visible losses to the glass (photo 2). The hand-painted vase and green banded vase show no visible chips or cracks to the rims (photo 2). The large coffee pot and the banded studio pottery vase appear to be free of significant chips or repairs to their primary surfaces (photo 3).
