Sold for: £8
A collection of assorted antique and vintage door finger plates in ceramic, glass, and metal, accompanied by a cast iron trivet. The group includes several white glazed porcelain or ceramic plates featuring shaped ends and pre-drilled holes for mounting. Two plates are constructed from clear glass with beveled edges and pointed terminals. The metal components of the lot include a rectangular red plate featuring the word PUSH in white uppercase serif block letters, two rectangular brass or bronze plates, and one decorative plate with a scrolled edge showing heavy green verdigris. Also included is a cast iron lattice-top trivet or stand supported by four legs. The ceramic and glass examples are typical of late Victorian and early 20th-century British architectural ironmongery. No maker marks are visible on the face of the items.
Condition report:
The ceramic plates show visible surface staining, old adhesive residue, and minor chipping to the edges (photo 1). The glass plates appear intact but show surface grime (photo 2). The red PUSH plate exhibits surface scratching and paint loss (photo 1). The rectangular metal plates have a heavy dark oxidized patina, while the shaped metal plate shows significant green verdigris and surface pitting (photo 1). The cast iron trivet appears structurally sound with surface oxidation typical of age.
