A tall carved metal pedestal plant stand, likely intended as a torchère or interior display piece. The stand is finished with a warm honey-coloured stain and a glossy topcoat to simulate the appearance of wood. The circular top features a double-molded edge. The central column is elaborately decorated with a series of stylised, foliate, and petal-like motifs organised in stacked sections, transitioning into a square-sectioned plinth. The base is a tiered, square stepped platform. The underside of the base is painted in a light beige or tan colour and is secured to the column by two large metal hexagonal nuts. The piece is supported by four dark-stained bun feet. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the surfaces shown.
Condition report:
The item is in fair condition with visible signs of wear. The circular top shows significant surface scratching, abrasions, and dulling of the gloss (photo 1). There are scattered nicks and small chips to the carved details of the central column (photo 2). The square base has multiple scuffs and indentations along the tiered edges (photo 2). The underside shows significant paint loss and flaking, and the bun feet have scuffing and finish loss (photo 3).
