A large carved green fluorite ship ornament, presented on a tiered and pierced wooden base. The sculpture depicts a traditional Chinese sailing vessel or junk, featuring a central ribbed sail, figures on deck, and a ladder-like structure at the stern. The material is translucent green fluorite, also known as fluorspar, displaying a natural crystalline structure with internal fracturing. The wooden base is intricately carved with pierced scrollwork and tiered molding. A small rectangular paper label is adhered to the underside of the wooden base, featuring the printed text MADE IN CHINA partially obscured by a tear. Below this, a handwritten number 8228 is visible in ink. The hull of the ship is hollowed out at the base, and the piece shows evidence of previous structural intervention.

Condition report:

The fluorite body displays significant natural internal fractures and cleavages throughout. There are visible dark brown adhesive residues along major fracture lines across the sail (photo 1) and hull (photo 3), indicating the piece has been broken and repaired. A large section of the material is missing or hollowed out from the underside of the hull (photo 4). The wooden base shows various scuffs, small chips to the carved edges, and minor losses to the dark finish (photo 4). Surface grime and dust are present within the deeper recesses of the carving and the pierced sections of the base.
