A pair of two coopered oak garden planters, each of tapered circular form. These vessels are constructed from stained oak staves secured by two copper alloy banding straps with visible rivet fixings. Each planter features two side handles equipped with turned wooden grips. The bases are each fitted with two raised wooden feet and are perforated with four drainage holes for horticultural use. The interiors show heavy staining and residue from previous use, while the exterior metalwork has developed a pronounced green verdigris patination. No maker’s marks, labels, or signatures are visible on either piece.

Measurements:
Height: 32 cm
Diameter at rim: 36 cm.

Condition report:

The planters exhibit significant weathering and oxidation consistent with garden use. Both items show heavy green verdigris and corrosion across the copper alloy bands (photo 1). The interior of one planter contains heavy staining and a fragment of debris (photo 4), while the other shows similar internal staining and surface dust (photo 5). The undersides show heavy accumulation of cobwebs and surface dirt around the wooden feet and drainage holes (photo 6). The wood displays various surface scuffs and general wear to the stained finish throughout.
