This auction ended on September 30, 2026.

Start price: £30

Estimated price: £30 - £40

Buyer's Premium: 20%

Sold for: £20

A George III style basin stand constructed from solid mahogany with a rich reddish-brown finish. The piece features a circular top with a raised moulded dish rim, supported by three barley-twist or Solomonic turned pillars. These pillars lead to a central triangular platform which houses a single small drawer fitted with a turned wooden knob, alongside a matching dummy drawer front. Below this platform, three curved supports descend to a tripod base with out-swept legs terminating in pad feet. The stand is characteristic of Georgian washstand designs, intended for a bowl and pitcher, but utilised here as a plant or side table. No maker marks, labels, or signatures are visible on the piece.

Condition report:

The item is in fair antique condition with visible signs of age and wear. There is significant scuffing and loss to the finish on the feet and the lower sections of the legs (photo 1). A notable horizontal split is visible in the mahogany on the left-hand side of the triangular drawer casing (photo 3). The barley-twist supports show minor abrasions to the carved edges (photo 4). General surface wear, light scratches, and some fading to the finish are present across the top and supporting framework. One of the turned wooden drawer knobs appears damaged or missing its tip (photo 3).
