A collection of vintage composition dolls and associated component parts. The group features one assembled doll with a composition head and limbs attached to a soft torso, featuring blonde moulded and painted hair and stationary blue eyes. The doll is dressed in a knitted green shawl, white lace-trimmed undergarments, and fabric booties. Also included is a separate composition doll head with an open mouth and internal sleep eye mechanism, an empty composition torso, and detached leg segments. The collection includes a quantity of dark brown and burgundy faux fur or plush fabric remnants, a wooden umbrella handle with a curved crook, and a small reddish-brown vanity box or suitcase. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the exterior of the dolls or components.
Condition report:
The items are in aged condition throughout. Significant crazing and surface cracking are visible to the composition material on all doll pieces, including the head (photo 1) and the detached torso (photo 1). The separate head is missing its eyes, which appear to have fallen back into the cavity (photo 1). There is notable surface loss and structural damage to the separate torso (photo 1). The textiles and doll components show evidence of dust and surface grime consistent with long-term storage (photo 2). The items are incomplete and disassembled.
