Sold for: £42
A collection of vintage and contemporary costume jewellery housed in a three-tier wooden jewellery chest. The assortment comprises approximately fifteen brooches, multiple bangles, and a quantity of beaded necklaces. The pieces are constructed from gold-tone and silver-tone base metals, embellished with multi-coloured rhinestones featuring clear, aurora borealis, amber, green, and blue finishes. Other decorative elements include faux pearls, poured glass, enamel, and plastic beads. Notable figural designs include a large dragonfly with blue and green enamel and rhinestones, a white enameled peacock with faux pearls, various owl motifs, and a rhinestone-encrusted cat within a heart. Floral and abstract pieces are also present, including a large gold-tone flower brooch with amber-coloured glass stones. The necklaces feature glass and faceted acrylic beads in earth tones, purples, and blues. One bangle appears to be painted wood or lacquerware with a floral motif. The interior of one bangle bears partial script lettering that is not clearly legible. The wooden chest features a yellow velvet-style lining and a mirror mounted to the interior lid.
Condition report:
The wooden chest shows significant scuffing and finish loss on the exterior edges and corners (photo 1). The metal finishes on the jewellery show general vintage wear and surface oxidation. The beaded necklaces in the bottom drawer are currently tangled (photo 1). Most rhinestones appear to be present, though the aurora borealis coating on some stones shows minor surface scratching (photo 4). The enamel on the dragonfly and peacock brooches remains largely intact.
