Noted literature includes a Victor Gollancz Ltd edition of Vanishing Cornwall by Daphne du Maurier and a slipcased Folio Society edition of Harriette Wilson’s Memoirs, which bears the printed mark THE FOLIO SOCIETY on the spine. The assortment features decorative cloth-bound volumes including Hammond Innes titles such as The Doomed Oasis and The Land God Gave to Cain, alongside Odhams Condensed Books. Technical and reference works include The Complete Book of British Birds by the AA/RSPB, Army Uniforms Since 1945 by Smith published by Blandford Press, and Pitman’s shorthand dictionaries. The lot also contains assorted pamphlets and local interest guides such as Plymouth Old and New by Owen A. Baker.

Condition report:

The collection is in generally fair to good condition. Visible wear includes sun-fading to the spines of the Hammond Innes and Odhams volumes (photo 1). The head and tail caps of older cloth bindings show fraying, notably on the Venice volume (photo 3). The dust jacket for The Complete Book of British Birds exhibits significant shelf wear and creasing at the edges (photo 4). Several paperbacks and pamphlets show edge wear and corner creasing consistent with use. There is evidence of light dust soiling and minor foxing to the edges of the text blocks throughout the group.
