This auction ended on September 30, 2026.

Start price: £16

Estimated price: £16 - £26

Buyer's Premium: 20%

Sold for: £10

A sterling silver napkin ring featuring a textured, engine-turned ground and a central polished oval cartouche. The cartouche is engraved with a personalized name in script reading Joyce. The interior of the band bears a series of four struck hallmarks: a maker’s mark consisting of the initials T.H.H in a rectangular cartouche, an anchor representing the Birmingham assay office, a lion passant indicating sterling silver purity, and a lowercase letter m in a shield-shaped punch corresponding to the year 1936. A further small s is struck below the primary marks. The ring is constructed with a wide, straight-edged band and polished rims.

Weight: 22g.

Condition report:

The silver displays significant surface oxidation and tarnish across the exterior and interior (photos 2 and 3). Fine surface scratches and small nicks consistent with age and use are visible throughout the engine-turned decoration and the engraved cartouche (photo 2). The circular form appears slightly distorted and is out of round (photo 1). No major splits or repairs are visible.
