This lot comprises two framed nineteenth-century British intaglio prints featuring maritime and architectural subjects. The first is a hand-coloured architectural engraving depicting a technical elevation of a timber structure, titled South Elevation of WINSTANLEY’S LIGHTHOUSE, upon the EDYSTONE ROCK, As it was finished in the Year 1699. The lower margin bears the inscriptions Drawn Orthographically from a Perspective Print thereof, Published by himself and Engraved by Hen. Roberts, 1761. The work features technical annotations, a scale bar, and figures on the rock base. The second piece is a hand-coloured steel engraving titled MOUTH OF THE RIVER TYNE. The lower edge includes the names Drawn by J.W. Carmichael and Engraved by J.T. Willmore. The scene illustrates a merchant sailing vessel navigating choppy waters off the coast of Tynemouth, with the Priory and a lighthouse visible on the headland. Both prints are presented in modern black frames with gilt inner fillets and cream mounts.

Condition report:

The Winstanley lighthouse print (photo 3) appears in good, clean condition with light toning consistent with age. The frame for this print shows minor scuffing to the corners. The Mouth of the River Tyne print (photo 2) exhibits significant condition issues, including heavy orange-brown foxing and prominent brown staining or tide-line discoloration throughout the upper half of the paper and margins. The gilding on the frame of the Tyne print shows minor wear.
