This lot comprises an earthenware pin dish featuring a hand-painted abstract landscape design in the Bizarre range by Clarice Cliff. The circular form is constructed with a raised, straight-sided rim and is decorated in an Art Deco style with a palette of orange, yellow, brown, and blue against a cream ground. The central landscape motif is contained within a blue circular border, and the exterior rim is finished with a solid orange band. The underside of the base features a hand-painted inscription reading HAND PAINTED above a stylized script mark reading Bizarre by Clarice Cliff. To the right of the name is a small circular stamp reading WILKINSON ENGLAND, and the centre of the base bears a separate printed stamp reading MADE IN ENGLAND. A small accidental dab of orange paint is present on the foot rim.
Condition report:
The dish appears to be in good vintage condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs. There is light surface wear and minor staining to the cream glaze on the interior (photo 1) and base (photo 2), consistent with age and use. The enamel colours remain well-preserved and vibrant.
