A collection of six writing instruments comprising three fountain pens, two pencils, and one ballpoint pen. The group includes a lever-filler fountain pen in marbled green and bronze-toned celluloid, featuring a gold-plated clip and a barrel with a linear inscription reading MABIE . TODD. A second lever-filler fountain pen is constructed from a dark material, possibly ebonite, featuring gold-toned metal furniture and a cap that shows significant surface browning. The third fountain pen features a dark blue resin barrel and a brushed steel cap, housing a partially hooded nib. The lot also includes an all-steel ballpoint pen, a short blue wooden pencil, and a yellow hexagonal advertising pencil. This advertising pencil bears black printed text on two faces reading SHELL with I.C.A. and SHELL X-100 MOTOR OIL. The celluloid Mabie Todd pen is fitted with a gold-plated lever and a clip with a ball end.

Condition report:

The marbled celluloid fountain pen shows surface wear consistent with age and visible brassing to the gold plating on the clip and lever (photo 1). The dark fountain pen exhibits heavy oxidation and browning to the cap surface, along with significant plating loss and pitting to the metal cap band and clip (photo 1). The blue and steel fountain pen shows minor surface scratches to the resin barrel (photo 1). The all-steel ballpoint pen displays light surface scuffing and the clip appears slightly out of alignment (photo 1). Both wooden pencils have been sharpened and show wear to the tips; the yellow pencil shows minor paint loss and wood exposure at the sharpened end (photo 1). The blue pencil is significantly shortened through use.
