This lot comprises a Black & Decker Workmate 536 portable folding workbench and vise. The unit is constructed from a black-painted steel folding frame supporting two adjustable laminated wooden work surfaces. The wooden boards are equipped with printed metric and imperial measuring scales along the inner edges, alongside various instructional and safety icons. The mechanism is operated by two red plastic handles located at the front, which facilitate the vise function. The top surfaces feature a series of pre-drilled holes, four of which contain red plastic bench dogs or pegs used for securing irregular workpieces. The right-hand wooden board bears a printed manufacturer’s mark consisting of the Black & Decker name inside a hexagonal border, positioned above the Workmate 536 model designation. The wooden boards show a natural finish with signs of extensive workshop use.
Condition report:
The workbench exhibits significant signs of heavy use and wear consistent with its age and purpose. The wooden work surfaces display numerous paint splatters in red and white (photo 1), along with various surface scratches and deeper saw gouges, particularly along the inner clamping edges. The black steel frame shows accumulated dust, minor surface corrosion, and typical paint loss at the joints and feet (photo 1). The red plastic handles and bench dogs appear intact, though they show surface scuffing. The mechanical folding and vise functions have not been tested for operation.
