A pair of framed and glazed limited edition sporting prints on paper by Maxine Cox, depicting notable subjects from British horse racing. The first print, titled Lester’s Return, depicts Lester Piggott winning the 1990 Champion Stakes on Rodrigo de Triano, accompanied by his wife Susan; the lower center margin contains a printed description of the event. The second print, titled Barbarous Again and Desert Orchid, features the renowned grey racehorse Desert Orchid alongside Barbarous Again. Both works are offset lithographs or giclée prints after original oil paintings. Each print is pencil signed by the artist Maxine Cox in the lower right margin. The Lester’s Return print is housed in a stained wood frame with a white mount, while the Desert Orchid print is presented in a silvered-tone frame with a cream mount. A printed attribution on the second print reads From an original oil painting by MAXINE COX.

Condition report:

The prints appear to be in good stable condition with light uniform toning to the paper consistent with age (photo 1). There are no visible signs of foxing, water damage, or significant fading to the ink. The frames show minor peripheral scuffing, light handling wear, and dust accumulation (photos 2 and 3). The glazing is intact on both examples.
