A five light candelabrum featuring a central candle socket and four scrolling arms. The item is constructed from silver plated metal, specifically marked as quadruple plate. The design incorporates twisted rope style arms that wrap around a central lobed stem. The base, drip pans, and candle sockets feature a scalloped melon form with gadrooned or beaded edging. To the underside of the drip pan, there is an impressed circular mark containing the words QUADRUPLE PLATE in the inner circle and NEWPORT, R.I., P.B. & CO., NEW YORK in the outer circle, surrounding a central square device. The mark also includes the stamped number 2179 and the impressed characters PAT. PENDING. Residual wax is present within the sockets.

Condition report:

The candelabrum shows significant tarnishing and oxidation across all surfaces, particularly visible on the twisted arms and within the crevices of the base (photo 1). There is visible wear to the silver plating on the raised beaded edges of the drip pans and base, revealing a darker base metal underneath (photo 3). Surface scratching and scuffing consistent with age are present across the metalwork. The arms exhibit slight asymmetry (photo 2).
