Lot 159: A Collection of Two Tone Glazed Studio Pottery Tableware

This auction ended on October 14, 2026.

Start price: £8

Estimated price: £8 - £20

Buyer's Premium: 20%

Sold for: £16

A collection of contemporary studio pottery tableware featuring a two-tone decorative scheme. The set is constructed from a terracotta-toned clay body, left unglazed and matte on the lower sections, contrasting with a speckled light turquoise or duck-egg blue glaze applied to the upper portions and interiors. The items feature a dipped glaze application resulting in a distinct horizontal boundary. Several pieces display incised throwing rings to the centre, and the handles are applied with textured thumb-press details. The underside of one vessel bears two impressed circular stamps: the upper stamp contains a cross-shape or four-petal flower design within a circle; the lower stamp contains a triangular or shield-like shape enclosing six small raised dots resembling a stylized fruit cluster. The marks are not legible as a name. This lot comprises the tableware only; the DVDs and other shelving items shown in the images are not included.

Condition report:

The collection appears to be in good used condition. There are no large cracks or major repairs visible across the set. Close inspection of the rims suggests some minor shelf wear and occasional small glaze pinholes consistent with studio production, notably visible on the rim of the large serving bowl (photo 4). The terracotta bases show light surface marks from contact with shelving (photo 2).
