A collection of Purewhite by Utopia Tableware vitrified ceramic tea and coffee service items. This extensive group of hotelware is constructed from white vitrified earthenware, designed for commercial durability. The set comprises tea cups with matching saucers, coffee mugs, and a quantity of additional stacking coffee cups. The collection also includes a large stack of spare saucers. Each piece features a plain, undecorated white glaze. The bases of the cups and saucers bear a printed blue backstamp. The mark consists of the word ‘purewhite’ in a stylised lowercase font, above the block capitals ‘UTOPIA TABLEWARE’. Below this is the text ‘Vitrified Hotelware’ and the British Standard code ‘BS4034’. The items are uniform in design, featuring rounded forms and integrated handles, with the coffee cups specifically designed for stable stacking.
Condition report:
The collection appears to be in good used commercial condition throughout. The glaze retains a consistent white finish across all pieces. There are some minor surface scuffs and light stacking wear visible to the centre of the saucers (photo 2). No chips, cracks, or repairs are visible in the provided images.
