A collection of assorted metalware items, predominantly constructed from pewter, brass, and silver-plated base metal. The group includes three pewter tankards: one with a hinged lid and thumbpiece, one with a hammered finish and C-handle, and one decorated with a relief scene of historical architecture and figures featuring gold-toned bands. A pair of ornate cast brass candlesticks is present, featuring square foliate-embossed bases and floral-motif sconces. The assortment also includes a small tri-footed brass cauldron, a pewter tray with a cast squirrel finial, and a leather strap fitted with cast brass plates, one of which features a crown and a GR cypher. A group of silver-plated forks with rounded handles and a small letter opener with a decorative handle complete the lot. No maker’s marks or signatures are readable on the surfaces of these items. This lot comprises the metalware and leather items only; the books and wooden shelving shown in the images are not included.

Condition report:

The silver-plated forks show significant surface tarnish and visible plate loss where the base metal is exposed (photo 3). The brass cauldron exhibits heavy surface oxidation and tarnish throughout (photo 1). A green verdigris deposit is visible in the crevices of the brass candlestick sconces (photo 2). The pewter tankards and tray show various small surface scuffs and light scratches consistent with domestic use (photo 1 and 2). The leather strap shows wear and creasing commensurate with age.
