A collection of vintage sewing supplies housed within three separate containers. The lot includes a green two-tier cantilever style plastic sewing box with a clear lid, a woven wicker sewing basket with a padded fabric lid and lined interior, and a deep oval metal tin. The assortment comprises a large quantity of thread spools in various materials and colours, including examples marked Gutermann, Mölnlycke, Sylko, and Coats & Clark’s. Notable haberdashery items include a card of twelve Ramo-ze self-threading needles, a red plastic case of thirty assorted needles, and a large red tomato style pin cushion. Further contents include multiple thimbles in ceramic and metal, a wooden-handled awl, assorted buttons, and glass storage jars with lids marked Shippam’s. A handmade fabric face mask in a holly pattern is also included within the lot.
Condition report:
The items are in used vintage condition. The green plastic box shows light surface scratching and minor oxidation to the metal latch (photo 1). The woven wicker basket exhibits minor fraying to the external edges (photo 1). The oval metal tin has light surface scuffing throughout. The majority of the thread spools are part-used, with some age-related wear to the paper labels on older wooden examples (photo 2). The Ramo-ze needle card appears largely complete (photo 4).
