This lot comprises a Scalextric slot car racing set housed in its original molded polystyrene base. The set includes two 1/32 scale plastic-bodied racing cars: one finished in green with racing number 2 and one finished in red with racing number 9, both featuring Smiths decals. The red car’s chassis is marked with the name SCALEXTRIC. The group contains several sections of black plastic track, including straight and curved speed banking sections, and two handheld controllers in red and black plastic. A blue plastic cylindrical power pack transformer is included, bearing an adhesive label reading Power Pack and SCALEXTRIC. The set is accompanied by original paper ephemera including a Scalextric Model Motor Racing catalogue, an instruction manual, and a printed Official Service Dealers list for the United Kingdom. Additional accessories include white plastic fencing on sprues and red plastic bridge supports.
Condition report:
The set is in used condition with signs of age throughout. The metal rails on the track sections show visible surface oxidation and rust, particularly evident on the curved pieces (photo 1). The two cars appear cosmetically intact with decals present, though the internal blue motors and wiring are visible through the chassis (photo 3). The white plastic fencing remains partially attached to the original sprues (photo 1). The paper manuals and dealer list show creasing, handling wear, and yellowing consistent with age (photo 5). The set is sold as untested and will require cleaning and maintenance to the electrical contact rails before use.
