A collection of vinyl records comprising four 12 inch LPs and multiple 7 inch singles, primarily focused on reggae, ska, and 2-tone genres from the late 1960s to the early 1980s. The LPs include Reggae Power by The Ethiopians, Tighten Up Volume 3, Rhythm n Reggae, and Original Reggae Greats Volume 2. The 7 inch singles include several titles by Madness such as It Must Be Love, Baggy Trousers, Embarrassment, and Wings of a Dove, alongside Jona Lewie’s Kitchen at Parties.
The collection features various recording labels. Several discs bear the Stiff Records label with the printed slogans IF IT MEANS EVERYTHING TO EVERYONE… IT MUST BE A STIFF and TODAY’S SOUND TODAY. Multiple items carry the Trojan Records horse logo, including an LP sleeve with the catalogue number TTL 32B. Other visible labels include a pink Capitol sleeve and record for Young Gifted and Black by Bob and Marcia, a Doctor Bird label for Pata Pata Rock Steady with catalogue number DB 1086, a Virgin subsidiary Front Line label for Sounds of Reality with catalogue number FLS 108, and a Pinnacle Records label for Time Traveller by Mankind with catalogue number PIN 71. One 7 inch label features a tree graphic with the text Lightning. Many of the 7 inch records are pressed with large centre holes.
Condition report:
The collection is in mixed condition. The LP jackets for Reggae Power (photo 1) and Rhythm n Reggae (photo 1) show significant edge wear, creasing, and tearing to the laminate. Several 7 inch picture sleeves for Madness exhibit visible ring wear and creasing (photo 2). Many singles are housed in generic paper or company sleeves which are heavily wrinkled and worn (photo 1, 3). The media shows visible surface dust and light scratches across the collection, with the Reggae Power LP displaying visible surface marks (photo 1). Many 7 inch records are missing their original centre adapters. Professional cleaning is recommended for all discs.
