A collection of British pre-decimal and decimal coinage featuring two large commemorative crowns. These crowns are housed in their original maroon-coloured presentation cases and display the equestrian portrait of Queen Elizabeth II for the 1953 Coronation. The loose coinage includes an assortment of copper and bronze denominations, such as pennies and halfpennies featuring the Golden Hind sailing ship and the seated figure of Britannia. The group also contains several brass threepence coins depicting the thrift plant, a cupro-nickel shilling, and one coin individually housed in a plastic holder with an accompanying printed certificate. A white adhesive label with the handwritten text ‘F1333C’ is attached to the exterior of the plastic holder. The coins exhibit various finishes, with some bronze pieces showing natural darkening and environmental toning. One coin displays a heavily corroded surface.

Condition report:

The coins show varying degrees of circulation wear from fine to uncirculated. The two commemorative crowns in cases appear to be in good condition with minor surface marks visible (photo 1). Several bronze coins show significant darkening and environmental toning, and one specific coin displays heavy surface corrosion and blackening (photo 1). The presentation cases show slight wear to the edges and corners (photo 1).
