Sold for: £12
A collection of assorted vintage hand tools and workshop ephemera, primarily housed within a galvanized metal bucket. The group comprises various woodworking and utility implements, including multiple wooden mallets with turned and rectangular heads, a ball-peen hammer, and a cobbler style hammer. Also included are several pairs of pliers and pincers featuring green and red coated handles, a small wooden-handled spokeshave, and numerous wooden-handled chisels and files. The lot features two metal tins, one of which is a vintage Senior Service cigarette tin. This tin is decorated with a sailing ship within a laurel wreath and bears the printed text SENIOR SERVICE and The Perfection of Cigarette Luxury. A long, dark rectangular sharpening stone, possibly an oilstone, is also included. The tools are constructed from forged steel and cast iron with various hardwood handles, likely ash or beech.
Condition report:
The items are in used workshop condition with evidence of significant age and wear throughout. Metal components show heavy surface oxidation and rust, particularly visible on the tool heads and the plain rectangular tin (photo 1). The wooden handles exhibit staining, scuffing, and some minor splitting consistent with utility (photo 2). The Senior Service cigarette tin shows surface scratches, localized rust, and loss to the printed finish (photo 3). The galvanized bucket has surface oxidation and minor denting. The tools are sold as seen and have not been tested for functionality.
