A large stained glass ceiling pendant lampshade constructed in an Arts and Crafts or Tiffany style using the copper foil technique. The domed conical form is composed of individual pieces of opalescent and slag glass, featuring a central geometric pattern of amber-toned panels arranged in concentric rings. The lower border is decorated with a repeating scrolling foliate and floral motif, incorporating vibrant shades of red, orange, and amber against a background of cream and lavender-streaked glass. The shade is finished with dark brown borders and interspersed blue and green slag glass accents. A decorative cast metal vented cap is fitted at the top. The lot includes three associated metal suspension rods with hooked ends. No manufacturer marks or signatures are visible on the glass or the metal hardware. A white adhesive label is present on the exterior glass reading ‘S7022’.
Condition report:
The lampshade shows signs of significant wear and damage. A major fracture and break are visible on the outer edge, where a section of the amber border glass has cracked and shifted out of place (photo 4). Multiple hairline cracks are present in several glass panels, particularly within the lower floral border section (photo 3). The lead solder lines exhibit a dark, aged patina with areas of surface oxidation. The three metal suspension rods show visible surface rust and wear to the finish (photo 1).
