This auction ended on October 14, 2026.

Start price: £20

Estimated price: £20 - £40

Buyer's Premium: 20%

Sold for: £34

A large leaded slag glass pendant light shade constructed in the Tiffany style using the copper foil technique. The domed shade features an intricate geometric and stylized floral pattern composed of numerous individual pieces of variegated and marbled slag glass. The colour palette comprises cream, amber, and caramel slag glass panels, accented with motifs in various shades of green, mottled blue, and dark reddish-brown borders. The shade is topped with a central circular metal heat cap featuring a decorative pierced geometric pattern. The interior rim is fitted with three soldered metal eyelets for suspension. The lot includes three patinated metal support rods with hooked ends for connection to a light fixture. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the shade or the associated hardware.

Condition report:

The shade shows visible damage including at least one crack to a large amber glass panel located near the lower rim (photo 8). There is significant oxidation and white mineral crusting (efflorescence) along many of the leaded seams, most notably on the exterior surfaces (photos 5 and 6). The central metal heat cap exhibits surface wear and loss to the dark patinated finish (photo 3). The interior soldered joint for the heat cap appears roughly finished with visible oxidation (photo 9). The hardware and glass are dusty and would benefit from professional cleaning.
