Sold for: £10
A mid-century Hollywood Regency style tub chair featuring a barrel-back frame. The frame is constructed from a close-grained hardwood, possibly beech, which has been turned and stained to simulate the appearance of bamboo. The back and sides are fitted with woven cane panels, secured into a groove around the inner frame. The chair includes a single, removable seat cushion upholstered in a green fabric with a repeating diamond-patterned weave. The underside of the frame features a stamped mark in black ink reading MADE IN SPAIN. The construction utilises visible dowel-type joinery at the intersections of the faux-bamboo elements. This lot comprises the chair and cushion only; the furniture and other items shown in the background of the images are not included.
Condition report:
The wood frame is structurally sound with minor surface abrasions and light wear to the finish on the legs consistent with use (photo 4 and 6). The woven cane panels are intact with no visible breaks, losses, or sagging (photo 1 and 5). The green upholstered cushion shows a horizontal crease across the centre but is free of visible stains or tears (photo 1). The underside shows minor scuffing and dust accumulation (photo 7).
