A collection of decorative ceramics and earthenware featuring two large circular chargers. These wall-hanging chargers are decorated with blue-on-white transfer-printed scenes of an exotic landscape with domes, minarets, and palm trees, framed by broad borders with molded scrolling foliate relief under a blue wash. The lot includes a tapered conical art pottery vase featuring clusters of purple grapes and green leaves against a dark ground; the base is marked with a circular black stamp reading ROYAL STANLEY WARE C & Co “JACOBEAN” ENGLAND around a central monogram. Also included is a tall cylindrical stoneware mug with molded sunburst patterns under a dark brown glaze, bearing an impressed oval mark to the base reading HORNSEA SAFFRON HEIRLOOM MADE IN ENGLAND. The assortment is completed by a pair of light blue jasperware items featuring white classical figures, two Turkish style hand-painted floral dishes, a green transfer-printed landscape plate, two floral cream jugs, and a pictorial coaster titled Falmouth Quay Punt: c1895.
Condition report:
The large chargers show visible fine crazing to the glaze on the reverse and minor surface wear to the transfer-printed decoration on the front (photos 2 and 3). The Royal Stanley vase has a highly glossy finish with some light surface scratches and minor shelf wear to the unglazed foot rim (photo 6). The Hornsea mug displays extensive fine crazing across the entire base (photo 8). The remaining small decorative items appear in good condition with minor signs of handling consistent with age.
