A collection of various decorative objects and ephemera. The lot includes two oval relief-carved wooden plaques featuring stylised acanthus leaf motifs set against a textured ground. A stone-effect cast resin head of a deity is included, entwined with faux tree roots and a fragment of wood. The group also features a circular copper-toned racing plaque under a transparent cover, depicting a Formula 1 car with the number ‘5’ on the nose, bordered by a scale-marked burgundy rim. Two brass-toned metal candlesticks and a small hand bell are present. The lot is completed by two wooden presentation shields: one features the heraldic crest of the Devon and Cornwall Constabulary with the motto ‘IN AUXILIUM OMNIUM’ and a brass-toned plaque inscribed ‘Presented by THE CHIEF CONSTABLE SIR JOHN EVANS QPM LLB’; the second is a smaller shield for the South African Navy unit SAS Simonsberg, bearing a red and white crest and metal plates inscribed ‘OPLEIDINGSKOOL VIR NUWELINGE / NEW ENTRY TRAINING SCHOOL’ and ‘SIMONSBERG’. A circular metal component, possibly a candle drip tray, is also included.

Condition report:

The items show signs of age and wear consistent with use. The wooden plaques exhibit surface abrasions and a visible vertical crack through the base of one example (photo 1). The resin deity head shows some surface dust and minor losses to the faux root material. The copper-toned plaque has visible surface scratches and dust under the acrylic or glass cover (photo 3). Both presentation shields show minor scuffing to the wooden mounts and tarnishing to the metal components; the SAS Simonsberg shield has a blank lower plate with surface oxidisation (photo 5). The metal candlesticks and bell show surface tarnishing and wax residue (photo 1).
