A collection of approximately sixty vinyl 45rpm singles, primarily dating from the late 1970s and 1980s. The assortment features a variety of pop, rock, new wave, and funk genres, largely reflecting the British music market of the early 1980s. Included in the lot are records by Toto with the single Africa on the CBS label, XTC with Sgt Rock (Is Going To Help Me) on Virgin Records, and Kool & The Gang with Straight Ahead on De-Lite Records. Other identified artists include The Police with the single Friends on A&M Records, The Pretenders with I Go to Sleep on Real Records, and Wham! with Club Tropicana on the Inner Vision label. The collection also includes examples by Level 42, Bad Manners, and The Cure. Several discs are housed in original picture sleeves, while others are in generic company or plain paper sleeves. Notable labels and catalogue numbers visible include AMS 75 for The Police, MAG 180 for Bad Manners, and FICS 20 for The Cure.
Condition report:
The collection shows varying signs of use and age throughout. The picture sleeves are generally in fair to good condition; the Kool & The Gang sleeve exhibits significant surface tearing and paper loss to the front (photo 1), and the XTC sleeve shows heavy creasing and thumbing (photo 1). Several other sleeves display edge wear, ring wear, and creasing (photo 1). The vinyl discs show visible surface dust and light sleeve-pull marks where exposed (photo 1). Handwritten notations are present on some labels, including the text The Funk Master on a plain white sleeve (photo 1). The records have been stored upright in a wooden shelf, which has resulted in some leaning (photo 2). The playback quality of the vinyl has not been tested.
