Buyer's Premium: 20%

A landscape study in gouache on paper depicting Porth Lysgi Bay. The composition is executed in a modernist style with broad, opaque blocks of colour representing the coastal cliffs, green clifftops, and a rocky shoreline. In the lower right corner, the work bears a small black ink monogram of the characters ‘KK’. The painting is presented behind a white card mount in a dark-toned metal frame. The verso of the wooden backing board carries several inscriptions, including a handwritten title reading ‘GOUACHE POR_TH LYSGI BAY’ and a numerical value ‘£ 50’. A small white adhesive label is affixed to the lower centre of the backing board, reading ‘KEMPSHALL, FENWICK HOUSE, 135 LORDSWOOD ROAD, HARBORNE, BIRMINGHAM 17, B17 9BL’.

Condition report:

The artwork appears in stable condition within its frame. There is visible wear and scuffing to the edges and corners of the metal frame (photo 1). The wooden backing board on the verso shows significant moisture staining, foxing, and dark discolouration, particularly across the upper and central areas (photo 3). The tape securing the backing is peeling and damaged at the top edge (photo 4). No visible foxing or staining is apparent on the paper support through the glass.
